History:
The " Guam Junior Golf League was found in 1994 by Bob Coe, George Benoit and James Nelson, all three of whom became the League's original directors. Their enthusiasm for the game of golf and aspiration to encourage the youth of Guam to participate in sport which emphasizes good social character, honesty and integrity was, and continues to be the objective of the Board of Directors.
Objective:
Provide to as many of Guam Juniors as possible (age 6-18) an ongoing low-cost, high quality forum to acquire a comprehensive understanding of and to achieve excellence in the game of golf. Provide skilled, dedicated professional coaching expertise that not only teach golfing skills but also provide valuable learning experiences in good citizenship, sportsmanship, teamwork, achievement and interactive communication skills. Train and develop a highly proficient, competitive organization of Guam Junior Golfers that within five years will be able to successfully compete and place in any selected international Junior Golf tournament.
Strategy:
Create a dedicated GJGL Board of Directors who will provide guidance and funds necessary to perpetuate the above objectives at minimal cost to the participants. Develop a teamwork approach to providing training and tournament play experience for Guam Junior Golfers with various interested individuals, organizations and the GJGL. Arrange high quality training and course play venues that provide high quality learning experiences for Guam Junior Golfers. Organize, at a minimum, quarterly GJGL sponsored, hosted or supported tournaments for participants. Develop an annual budget that provides up to 8 hours of weekly coaching instruction at high quality training facilities (on and off course instructions), provides for at least four annual Junior Golf Tournaments and provides funds necessary for selected national or international Junior Golf competitions.
Training Philosophy
LEVEL 1
Taught grip, stance, posture, alignment, fundamental swing, putting and chipping, basic golf etiquette, safety, sportsmanship, and basic rules. On course training will be limited to 100 yards or less.
Includes: 2 hour weekly training sessions (2X); 2 monthly course play day;
Minimum 4 tournaments/year
LEVEL 2
Demonstrate proper grip, stance, posture, alignment, fun dementia swing, putting and chipping skills. Also ready to develop good ball striking techniques. Golf etiquette, safety and sportsmanship reinforced and more detailed rules of golf introduced.
Includes: On course training session (2X); 2 monthly courses play day;
Minimum 4 tournaments/year
LEVEL 3
Developed a high level of proficiency and consistency in fundamental swing, putting, chipping and ball striking ability. Capable of playing bogey or better golf in 18 holes from distance of 150 yards or less and ready to begin playing at par 72 course (age limitations apply). Etiquette, safety and sportsmanship reinforced.
Advanced rules of golf and course management taught.

Minimum 4 tournaments/year
LEVEL 4
Developed advance level of proficiency and consistency in swing putting, chipping and ball striking ability. Capable of learning and developing advanced shot making techniques like draws, fades hooks, slices, low shots, high shots, etc.
Demonstrated proper etiquette, safety & sportsmanship and a good understanding of rules of golf. Capable of consistently playing bogey or better golf on par 72 course from established junior tournament distance.
Handicaps encouraged.
Includes: 2 hour weekly training sessions (2X); two course play day per week (par72); Minimum 4 tournaments/year. Paid Handicap card
LEVEL 5
Developed outstanding proficiency and consistency in swing, putting chipping and ball striking skills. Demonstrated ability to execute advanced shots like draws fades, hooks, slices low shots high shots, etc. Demonstrated outstanding etiquette, safety & sportsmanship and very good understanding of the rules of golf. Capable of demonstrating to others proper fundamentals of golf. Demonstrated the ability to compete internationally. Have an established Handicap.

Minimum 4 tournaments/year. Paid Handicap card

- Funded many competitive tournaments including the annual GJGL Open Championship and Parent/Junior Tournaments
- We help many of Guam's junior golfers participate in the prestigious international and state junior golf tournaments around the world!
- Some of our former members have relocated to the US mainland and continued their golf interests. Several have obtained golf scholarships at reputable universities and colleges. A former
member recently turned professional and is competing in the PGA!!!
